For those among you who don’t ski or maybe you just fancy a day away from the
skis and boards there is still plenty to keep you occupied in Verbier. Fancy a bit of luge action but think sledging is going down a bumpy hill on a tea tray, well think again! The swiss take the luge very seriously and in Verbier you can sledge from the top of the mountain down a 10km run reserved solely for sledgers. The run goes from the top of Savoleyres to La Tzoumaz and takes you through beautiful pine forests and stunning scenery. An experience not to be missed. Snow Carting: A seat on 3 skis. Sounds odd, looks odd but great fun. Snow Shoeing is very popular across the many varying trails around Verbier with a guide and they provide the equipment. For those who like things a little more adventurous how about Para-Gliding, Heli-Skiing and Ice Climbing (just not all at the same time!) The local sports centre is within easy walking distance and has a swimming pool, skating rink, curling rink and sauna. If you would like to see a bit more of Switzerland, how about a day out to Chamonix, Aosta, Montreux, Zermatt, Villars or Crans Montana for sightseeing, shopping or even more skiing. |
